Bait Rigger Addon
#1
[cool][#0000ff]After I had pretty much completed the PVC work on Orvis1's new ODC 420L, he asked me to add one of my famous "bait riggers". These are the specially designed rod holders for fishing bait on one rod while you cast lures (or fish bait) with a second rod (where legal). [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You can fish with the bail closed or open. I like to leave the bail open and put a loop of line under the plastic clip. When a fish takes the bait the line pops free and the fish can run without feeling pressure. That gives me time to put up the other rod and pick up the one with the "inquiry". Then I flip the bail, let the line come tight and set the hook.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]On my Fat Cats, I anchor my baitriggers to a wooden block inside the large side pockets. We did not want to add any weight or put holes in the cover of Craig's lightweight pack tube, so I had to improvise. Instead of a permanent attachment, I incorporated my new design for a 1/2" modular PVC mini frame with stretch cord installation for easy on and off.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]Simple. Rig a small ring or drill a hole on one side of the PVC and put a snap or S hook on the one end of the cord. Instead of pushing it over the nose of a V-boat you just wrap it around the donut and snap it in place.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]That is how I used to have to attach all of my goodies in the old donut days. Wrap and snap.[/#0000ff]
