Five Floatilla on Utah Lake
#1
[cool][#0000ff] Five floataholics launched at Lincoln Beach about 7 am to light breezes, sunshine and 68 degree water. Wildcat94 and Lingwall came down from Ogden and joined Hnaf, Swedishfish and myself for a catfest. Lingwall was supposed to meet me in Salt Lake and rideshare to Lincoln Beach. He was a no show. Gave him 15 minutes and left without him. I usually do not wait that long.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The rest of us were just about ready to launch when Lingwall's truck came roaring out on the flat, throwing gravel. He made it late, but he made it.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The first few fish were white bass. Then the cookie cutter kitties started playing with us and everybody netted at least one in the first hour or so. The best action was in shallow water near the reeds today. Last time they were out in deeper water, so I stayed deeper, trying for walleyes too. No walleyes, but quite a few white bass and about 8 kitties. I tossed three back, including one poor little guy that was in really bad shape. Looked like he had run into a big rock headfirst at full speed. His body was bent into an S curve.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Lingwall had a couple of bigger cats break him off. I landed the largest of the day, at about 22 inches, and another just under 20. Most of the cats we brought in looked like Willard Bay cookies...15" to 17". White bass were mostly small too...none over about 12". But they came to play and provided some amusement.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]As usual, forecast for the day was for "southerly" breezes into the afternoon. As usual, the north breeze started blowing about 10 o'clock and the fishing dropped way off. Add to that some PWC action in the area and a couple of boats that had to either troll through us or motor up close to see what was going on and the fish got quiet. Never fails. Two boats go out of the harbor and both of them end up on top of the tubers.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Probably the worst part of the day was when we went to the cleaning station. Some slobs had filled the disposal with fish before turning it on and had blown the fuse. No workee. Full of rotten fish. What was worse was that many of the fish had not even been cleaned or filleted. Many white bass and small cats were just dumped there...wasted.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Everybody got fish. Some more than others. But everybody had a good time.[/#0000ff]

Great day for you all. Glad someone is getting out this summer!
I did escape for an hour on the creek yesterday and with a 2 weight, those 6" are fun.......sort of.
I need some major rod bendage!

Nice going. Looks like a very nice day on the water.
That fillet station looks like hell. But I know that you
do have your very own fillet station[Smile]

[cool][#0000ff]Yes. It was an annoyance and an inconvenience. But, the water was still on, so I set up my board and used one of my big buckets and a black plastic bag to put the yucky stuff in. I have a 12 volt portable fillet knife and filleted fish for all 5 of us in about a half hour.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There are signs all over the cleaning station that tell people to turn on the disposal and let it run before putting fish in it. But, some folks can't or don't bother to read and just stuff the fish in before turning it on. There are slobs in all walks of life and in all sports.[/#0000ff]

[cool] [#0000ff]Now in some parts of the country (Texas), when they talk about a 6 inch fish, they mean BETWEEN THE EYES.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Dr. TubeDude prescribes some carp action. They bend your stick and stretch your string.[/#0000ff]

Selective site! We went to Willow last night with BOY SCOUTS. Parks are no smoking, but the shores are covered with butts. Even when I did smoke, I carried a baggy.
Best though. Right under the NO SMOKING sign was a good old boy puffing away.

when Im tubing Im away from the shore BS. But sometimes I have to make a "shore visit" to take care of...........
Well , sometimes I just cant believe my eyes. All that
trush, beer cans, $hit, all over the place. Those people
just make a mess but the funny thing is that they are the
ones that have sit in it when they are "fishing".
Im just so happy that i got my float tube and that I dont
have to deal with all that.
Around here most shore "anglers" are pigs. And the even
worst thing is that they go right by trash can on the way
back to they car. I just dont get it.
Just my 2c.

[cool][#0000ff]Weather permitting, we are still planning the trip to Lincoln Beach on the 28th. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]This little gathering was just a weekly gathering of a few tubers, showing the venue to a couple of guys who had never fished it before.[/#0000ff]
