shark fishing on the surf

Hi there! I have a question. What kind of line can I use to fish shark from the surf? 80 lb or higher. Also what is the best line to use when surf fishing. Thank you every body, it´s really helpful any information posted. GOD bless

In order to use 80lb line you would need to have it on a very big reel or be sure to use Spectra or Power Pro braided line.

I will generally use 80lb with a 230 lb steel leader for the Mako Sharks in my area.

If you are going to use Mono, I would go with the Trilene. As far as braided line goes, I do have a preferrence for Power Pro.

Ok! great tip, I will be starting with a spining rod and reel to get started on smaller fish , then I´ll try to fish on spots nobody is swiming or surfing (because of shark fishing). Thank you very much
