They did not tell you the truth bud, we were able to go up the dirt trail right below the campground (which is where we stayed). Silver Flat road was open, there were lots of cars up there. The gate which goes up towards the Mineral Basin (Pittsburg Lake Etc.) was also open, they were all open except the gate which goes from American Fork over to Sundance, they still have that one closed, but will probably open it this weekend.

So what do you use for bait at Silver Flat???? How do you bag so many of em? [/reply]

Those limey turds! If I woulda known it was open I would have hit it up already. Ah well, we'll still be there on Saturday.

I cought the one Brown on a black Roostertail with a silver spinner. All the rest were nabed on green PB.

I have always had good success at Silver Lake Flats with Lil' Jake's Spinnalures, gold with red spots, small Panther martins, and fly and bubble rigs. I'm sure that there are plenty of other options as well.

Nice, ive always been a bait man myself. But im getting tired of the bait and have started using lures, I want to try the fly and bubble deal also. So do you tie normal fly fishing fly's on that rig or what?? Do you ever use kastmasters?

I have used kastmasters, but not up there. I am sure that small ones would be about as effective as anything else. I have used small brass brown-trout patterns on the Provo river and they work O.K., but I tend to go back to my Panther Martins. As for the fly and bubble, there is a whole thread about this under the topic of 'Arctic Greyling' that there have been a lot of comments on. To sum it up, you use a casting bubble, fill it up about half way when using dry flies, maybe more if using nymphs or streamers, then tie on a barrel swivel followed by about 3-5 ft of leader and then your fly. I have used all kinds of flies and they all seem to work. Up there I would probably use a nymph, like a pheasant tail or gold ribbed hare's ear, or small BWO immitations for dries. I would have to think that mosquitos would also be pretty effective. I am sure thought that there are plenty of others here that would have their opinions, all of which I am sure would be helpful for you. Good luck!

If your interested go to UTBASS.com. Cliff Gallager and Kent Davis (Smokercraft) are running the Tourney. The info is there along with registration form. I just saw the weather report for this weekend and it's suppose to turn a little nasty Sat. with rain, wind and temps in the high 50's or low 60'sin the valley. Might cut back on some of the water skiers.[Tongue]

What type of boat will you be in Sunday? My boat is a Crestliner Black over almond with a US flag sticker on both sides, and a BFT sticker on my windshield. I keep my marine radio tuned to channel 16. Give us a shout if you see us.[cool]

I'll be on the Bear. White 26'Crownline. I'll probably be hangin' at slip 21 (second pier East from Cisco's) doin' toddies or brews until the water skiers get blown off the lake. Drop by and say hi.
