UL catfishing report 6/12/19
#1
I met TD bright and early this morning at The Knolls to buy a rain suit from him and to try a little fishing at a place I had never been before. The spot I tried was full of reeds and tamarisks and spawning carp. No luck casting into the little open spots near shore so I decided to head to Lincoln. On my way out I saw some good spots that I should have tried so I'll be back another day to give it a fair chance.

I fished Lincoln channel from 8:50 until 12:15 and caught 7 channels. A few bullheads messed around with my big white bass sections but I didn't have to land any. The channels measured 20 to 24 inches, nothing close to being bumpers but fun after having skunks the last few times out. Twice I had doubles that really kept me hopping. It seemed that the fish would move through in schools and I'd get the doubles. At one point I had averaged a fish every 20 minutes. The bite shut off at about 11:30 but I hung in until 12:15, trying a new piece of white bass and a shrimp/worm combo. I had caught all of the fish on just two pieces of white bass, a head and the middle third. I kept finding a new place to hook them and the fish liked them just fine.

The older I get the more I would rather be considered a good man than a good fisherman.

[#0000FF]Sorry the Knolls wasn't more hospitable. I have never seen it that overgrown with shoreline vegetation, and the water being up so far into the greenery. I will be posting a couple of pictures on my report.[/#0000FF]

I'm glad you found some playful ones this morning, even if you had to drive a lot to locate them. I have only fished the knowls about 3 times, and always from a boat. I have always been treated well there, but I always got cookie cutters.

I don't know TD's secret spots for the bigger ones[Tongue]

Craig -- you need to invest in a boat, a tube, or a yak. We need you on the water and on the bank. Gotta get our scores up.[Wink]

Toadally. I have the boat and the motor, just need to pull it together and get it on the water. On my list this week.

Yeah, I've gotten offers from a couple of members to help me. Now I just have to figure out the hitch, the tires, the registration, etc, etc.
