UL Whites
#1
I am wondering if any one has tried their luck at the white bass at Utah lake. I have a group of 12 sons/nephews under the age of 12 that want to go fishing and was thinking that the white bass spawn would be the perfect time to get them all hooked (my kids are already hooked[Wink] this is more for the 9 nephews) I am nervous that if i take a dozen boys fishing and it is slow... there may be fines or reclamation efforts needed[:/] any ideas on if things are picking up or where I might be able to spread out that many kidos would be appreciated.

thanks

I checked the mouth of the Provo and Hobble Creek on Saturday evening. A few people had caught a couple, but it looked slow (just judging by my driving slowly around and doing a little visiting). My guess is that we're still a few days away from the good fishing.

do you think that things will be going good by this Saturday? I checked the water temp and it said we were at 66. I was under the impression the 65 was the magic number?

We have a few cool days coming, but Friday and Saturday should be warm. In past years I would say yes definitely, the white bass should be in by then. But I'm not confident right now. I think so, but tentatively.

I have found concentrations of Males staging around the lake on 4-27-19 in areas with temps in the low 60's, nothing that could be accessed by foot.
Due to the cold runoff and water clarity, low nightly temps in may push the spawners back a couple of weeks in my opinion.
Another important note the cats are moving into traditional spawning areas aswell
I boated 17 on Sunday between 6 & 12 lbs. 1 foot or less from shore mostly rocky protected pockets and inside marinas.
hope that helps.
