East Canyon 9-17
#1
Wanted to get the new Terrova in the water at least once this year since I was given it for my birthday.  I had doubts about the ramp at Rockport, so we decided it would be East Canyon for Bass, maybe a Crappie or a trout.
The ramp is in great shape with plenty of water, so much that the Wakers are still coming. Even on a Wednesday.  Both sets of courtesy docks are out as well as the dock down the middle of the ramp, two lanes are available.  Sorry, no pics. The res is down a t least 30' below full pool.

Fishing, well the water was full of floating alga, small chunks so visibility was still good.  6-8 feet.  We were really on a shakedown cruise for an upcoming trip to Sand Hollow to see how the new electric motor worked and try to get my Garmin to recognize that I am not at some lake in Arkansas. The Terrova is great.  What an upgrade from a pre-I piolet PowerDrive.  It worked flawlessly but I only know how to use about 30% of what it is capable of. The spot lock is an incredible feature, jog, I piolet right past a buoy I aimed at.  The transducer works great with my little Garmin, but a Hummingbird that talks to it will be next.

The big Garmin, EchoMap UHD7 SV is still elusive, and I really only have traditional, and Chirp modes figured out, Side view, not sure what I am seeing, if anything at all.
The fishing was eh.  We caught some small-mouthed bass, 8 to 12".  Some on deep crankbaits over point edges but most on a live crawler on a jig under a slip bobber in 8' of water around rocky edges and in coves along the walls. At some spots several bass could be pulled from the same 10' of shore, then nothing for 100'.

6hp trolling motor didn't want to start at all, I had just run it for a solid 15 minutes in a barrel 2 weeks ago.  I bet I didn't fully tighten the plugs when I checked them for carbon after the 15 min.  The big motor ran great, for a bit, then starved for fuel, Ugg, Fuel pump time.  I will double check for air leak in the line connections as well, but the line and bulb are new.

One other fisher at the dock said they caught 2 trout, traditional style with Power Bait near the bottom in shallower water closer to the inlet than we fished.

It takes time on the water to figure out, side scan or side view but once you do it can be a game changer, especially when fishing in water under 30 ft deep but even in deeper water it's amazing. Bummer you are having so many motor issues, hopefully it is something easy to fix.
