For trout i use jakes with red dots with silver or gold.Spinners work great there for trout and the LMB will hit them too.Powerbait and worms works good there to but i recomend only using it only if you want to keep the trout.Hope this helps.

I have just the opposite problems as you, i have only fished it 2 times, both times i used lures, usually jakes and caught only trout, small trout, but still trout. I wish that i could catch some of the bass, cats, gills, sunfish hell even a carp (it would be released) to break the monotony of the lake. I usually fish east of the swim beach right near the bend

For me that place has become a sure-thing catfish fishery. I don't think I've ever been skunked on cats whenever I've targeted them there. Worms or shrimp on the bottom weightless, with weight, or about a yard below a bobber--doesn't matter. The catfish are hungry in there.
I believe I've only fished Salem Pond twice in the last several weeks, but when I have I've focused on the bass and bluegill. In the right places, some fast action for tiny gills may be had with a tiny worm-tipped jig just a foot or so below a bobber. The gills are so tiny all have been released, but it's fun for the kids (and me, too) when we've gotten into a school of those fiesty, pretty little guys and gals.
Two big surprises for me this year on the pond came when I landed a 16.5" largemouth and probably at least a 10" bluegill out of there on my second to the last trip, in early June. That's a big largie for that pond, and he fought like crazy. After I hooked him, I handed the rod to my 7-year-old, and I thought he was going to break the guides off my St. Croix ultra light when the largie took a run under the boat, the top half of the rod was pulled into the water, and the rest of the rod was raked across the side of the boat.
I've had some pretty fun times with my kids and some neighbors on that little piece of water.
