Fun Little Deer Hunt
#1
I drew out on a Pine Valley early buck any weapon tag which opened yesterday.  I had a tough time getting ready to go this year was so unorganized, but did get down there just before sundown and found a spot to camp near where my brother had said might be a good spot to start hunting in the morning...  So set up camp, ate some burgers and crashed on the full moon night that was as bright as any night I've ever seen that didn't have snow covering the ground...  Yotees howled at the moon for hours, was pretty cool...  Hunting partner was struggling to sleep so we ended up getting up way too early and waited a couple hours for light to show, but it gave my brother time to join us just before first light.... We drove about 200 yards to a clearing that I thought would be a good spot to start glassing from, stepped out and seen a doe about 300 yards out, minute or two later two buck showed up, then a few more... Two were pretty nice deer, so my brother made a play to get onto them... Ended up he jumped them and the crazy things decided to head my direction... Ended up 11 buck in the bunch about 170 yards, I finally decided I better get my gun out of the truck... Still waiting for my brother to shoot, but he couldn't  see them and Robbie started telling me which one to shoot, even though my wife told me not to shoot one since we still have some moose and salmon in the freezer... Well buck fever got the best of me and I couldn't help myself... dropped the buck about 30 feet from the dirt road.. Was a rough pack out... Hunt lasted about twenty minutes this year... We seen a lot of hunters in the area, but as of about noon when we broke camp I didn't hear any other shots... Don't know what I did to deserve that luck, but I've probably used up my yearly good luck... Very thankful for those blessings, and had a fun hunt...  Later J

PS... Broke that 6.5mm Creedmore in and it does a very good job with no noticeable recoil... Really like that gun..

Forum won't let me add a picture, but I'll try later..
When things get stressful think I'll go fish'en and worry about it tomorrow!
