Bear Lake Last Weekend
#1
So I finally got to go fishing a couple times, well a couple hours Friday and Saturday and Monday Morning.  Ended up with my nephew outfishing me and everyone else in the boat... Wasn't too hard only got one Mack Friday and another one Saturday morning...  But he caught both of them... We were fishing 5 rods between the 4 or 5 of us fishing.  Ended up the lead core with a kokanee rig got both of  them. Pink dodger with a white squid tipped with pink maggots...  Since I was shutout on the big lake, (well I had a hit, hooked it, and it decided to let go on the way in) so I ran over to Heritage Pond and got my tugs over there... It was really kind of fun, i'd get six hits per cast and finally even landed a few.  Plus I was able to take my grand daughters over there for their first fishing trip...  I've got a little work to do there to get them to figure out reeling, but they won't turn 2 until next month... so I've got a little time to work on that...  Anyway fun weekend even though the fishing was slow... Later J

Nice lakers. All I normally catch is the wind
Remember: keep the lid on the worms, share your jerky, and stop by to say hi to Cookie and the Cowboy-Pirate crew

Awesome, 100% success rate. Sounds to me you caught the exact species you were after every time.

Glad to hear that you guys got a couple of them, Jeff! I wondered if you had any luck.

Heritage pond is a fun spot for the grandkids. I have a 19 month and a 2.5 year old pair of granddaughters that I take there weekly. We are still trying to figure out how to get them to commit to reeling once the fish is hooked!

As we all know, BL is a tough one for numbers but the big one looks like a good one did you happen to measure it? Sure haven't got many reports from BL, so thanks Jeff.

I'm with ya there, that last morning we fished a couple hours before going home and it was rough, we had 3+ footers and I had my nephew in law in front of the boat and he's a pretty big kid, I was kind of nervous on a couple waves, even with the new boat it was on the edge of time to get off... Hate waves, but like fishing more... Thanks for comments.. Jeff

Hey Shawn, yup I do pretty well when I fish for skunks, getting as many on the lake as I'm getting around home lately... Man my doodles need to learn not to try smelling a skunks but.... At least they didn't attack it and git bit so I avoided the vet fun... Hope the skunks decide to move on before corn comes on or I won't have much... Later Jeff

Hey Mike, thanks so much for the tips, have been going to call ya back and tell ya thanks, it was a fun trip... So Saturday everything disappeared off the trolling grounds so we hit the rock pile just to check things out, and there were a ton of fish on the north side, but I couldn't get them to take our jigging offerings, but I didn't have any cisco to tip things with, so might have been the problem there...

Those grandkids are great fun for sure.... mine were making mud pies as I planted raspberries the other night...  Thanks again Mike, sure appreciated the heads up on things... Later Jeff

Hey Curt, it was 27", we guessed about 8 lbs, but didn't weigh it... I know I should be fishing Willard this time of year, but sure was nice to have the whole place to ourselves, I mean there were like 3 other boats fishing on Saturday and only one that was close to where we fished, so pretty nice conditions for a weekend... No ski or boarders at all, 47 degree water probably helped that out...  Got a good report from a friend at Henry's over the weekend opener, showed me a picture of a 5-6 lb brookie and 6-7lb cuttie they caught on the opening day... I kind of miss that trip, we used to do it every year, fun times.... Later Jeff
