first cat trip of the year!
#1
I am up in Lewiston Id this week. We came up to see our daughter in school. I floated the snake river yesterday and the only thing we caught was a small squawfish. Today we went to a local pond and tried our luck at crappie, bass, trout, and we heard that there was cats in there. Well the only fish that wanted to play was catish. We hit the water at 10:00 and the water was 44 degrees. we kicked to the far side of the pond and the temp was 46 at noon. My son Jacob was with me but he never got a fish. He was right by me using the same bate but never got a bite. My first fish was a brute. As I got him close to the toon I saw that his tail was about 6" wide! I yelled for Jacob to come get pictures. That fish was 30" long and weighed 15 pounds. In the next 2 hours I got 5 cats in all. The smallest was 4 pounds. I kept two fish for our family to eat and turned loose the rest. I can't get pictures up while I am here so I will post pictures later. Last year my goal was to get a 10 pound cat. I did that three times today. I sure wish Jacob would have got a couple. Ron
