Nevada Stillwaters?
#1
I've heard some good comments about South Fork Reservoir (south of Elko) and Wild Horse Reservior (north of Elko). I'm told that South Fork is managed as a recreational lake and keeps a minimum pool of 90% year round. Denny Rickards recommends Wild Horse.

Anyone fished these lakes or have some details they would be willing to share?

Never fished around Elko before, but welcome to the board. I plan on fishing the Humboldt in Winnemucca in June though.

On another website I found a photo of a very nice fish taken on South Fork Reservior.

High desert lakes, stable water levels, lots of bugs - there could be good pig hunting. Rickard's book says Wild Horse Reservior has Rainbows to 8-pounds, Browns to 13-pounds and Cutthroat to 10-pounds. Both lakes also have Smallmouth Bass.

Hopefully, someone will have more "hands-on" information.

Didn't say I wouldn't fish it. It looks fun! Always interested in a new place to catch fish. That is why I am planning on the Humboldt River in June. I am in Winnemucca every saturday and it just so happens I will be there on free fishing day this year.[Smile] So now to see what I can pull outof the river.[Smile]

Welcome indeed! Hey Jeff, good to read from you.
Folks, this guy is sooooooo cool. Plus he ties the most beautiful flies I have ever seen.
Pleasure to have you here my friend. See you at the Utah show this year?

Good to read you too Joni. Due to work, I've got to choose between the Utah and East Idaho Expos - I can't attend both. I'm struggling with the choice because I enjoy each for different reasons. It may come down to a coin flip or letting my wife choose. Either way, I'll see you and Alan at one or the other.

Be careful, your nose is going to grow if you tell any more whoppers about my fly tying [Wink]
