Pierpoint Landing Parking System Change
#1
CORRECTION/CLAIRFICATION FROM LAST WEEK:
An update on the Pierpoint parking ….

The parking space fee of $3.50 for....... 3 HOURS MAXIMUM.... NOT.... all day..... is all that will be available next to the Pierpoint landing office from tomrrow the 14th, 2006. That means that anglers will have to use the parking lot next to the Catalina Terminal building.... a 10~15 minute walk away! or park in the aquarium parking structure for $6.00 all day.... with Pierpoint Landing validation.

Oh ya ..... you have to get a special token ($3.00 all day) to get into the parking lot newly designated for Pierpoint customers! The parking lot next to the office has become a pay-to-park lot and operating hours starts at 8am in the morning. This means that a lone angler (3/4 or AM 1/2 day boat customer) who can get a (1) token before 8am can.... 1) drive in the nearby lot, 2) park temporarily, 3) buy his ticket, 4) get his 1 and only one, one-per-ticket token THEN ....5) he or she can go park their vehicle in the distant parking lot, and 6) carry his or her gear to the boarding ramp!

Better idea: Got a buddy for watching the off-loaded gear!? You'll need one for the PM and twilight runs for sure as you can't put your gear on the boat before boarding time and can't just leave it laying around. The office can't be responsible for angler's tackle. Being by yourself, you'll have no place to stop (legally) to get your ticket and token to enable you to park for the days fishing in the far lot unless.... you can pay the minimum at the nearby lot but .... you'll still need to carry your stuff from the far parking lot if you don't want to risk it getting ripped off!

If you don't like that ...... you can always park in the aquarium parking structure in the first place for $6.00 and only walk 10 minutes...... with your gear!

One bright spot........ is that if you have a vehicle/driver/passenger with handicap status you can fight over the four or five handicap spots in the near lot.

Don't misunderstand ... I'm not raggin' on Pierpoint Landing....... it's just I don't want to see avoidable confusion cause angler's ill feelings toward Pierpoint from the inconvenience this new system will cause.
