I went to Lake of the Woods this last weekend where the fishing is usually good on a bad day. Its not uncommon to catch 50 or more walleye in a day. What is uncommon is my trip, we caught around 20 the entire weekend between 7 guys, and 13 of those were keepers. I did end up with one 6# eelpout, but decided not to enter the picture in the contest since its not really a fish (in my book). I could not believe how slow it was, the weather had a lot to do with the bite and I hope to get back there in late feb or Mar.
Here is a map of Lake of the Woods for those who don’t know it. Its extreme northern MN.
ZOOM THE MAP TO 6, You'll see how big this lake is.
