[#ffffff][#000000][b]RALEIGH, NC—Anglers fishing Lake Julian will have plenty of fish to catch and free rods and reels to borrow this year. Thanks to the cooperative efforts of the Buncombe County Parks and Recreation Services, Progress Energy and the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, Lake Julian recently joined the Commission's Community Fishing Program (CFP) and Fishing Tackle Loaner Program (FTLP). [/#000000]

Commission personnel are stocking 6,000 channel catfish this year, and on an annual basis, to enhance fishing opportunities. [/#000000]

[#000000]As a way to encourage people to go fishing, the FTLP, which will begin mid-May, offers loaner rods and reels from the park office free of charge to anglers of all ages on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information on Lake Julian, contact the Buncombe County Parks and Recreation Services, (828) 684-0376.
