In past years the larger and more plentiful kokanee made it worth driving past Jordanelle to chase them. Is that true this year? Haven't seen many reports, but have a buddy who will be camping up there a few days next week and wants me to take him out. Strawberry is twice as far, and I find it irritating paying the launch fee when I have a State Parks pass plus my National Parks pass. That, plus the launch fee means over an extra hour driving time plus at least an additional $20/trip.
Single main, no kicker.

So far all reposts say it's spotty this year, that could change, as the weather warms but I'm with you, I'll just be hitting Jordanelle this year unless things improve.

Paddler, I feel your agonizing frustration in what has happened with the Berry. I also have a state & federal parks pass but seem to shovel the cash out at a day on the Berry. My drawback at the Nelle is the power squadron takes over this time of year as with most other lakes around. Coming out of Ogden I will continue to venture to Strawberry which is a 2hr one way trip. I do the 3hr trip to the Gorge or Fontenelle. This time of year, I have to make it worth my while for those travel distances. Winter fishing is reserved for the Nelle, and no I'm not an ice fishing guy.

So far on the Koke fishing at the Berry this year, reports are tougher fishing and smaller average on the size. I have been told the guide boats are struggling. A friend who fishes it a lot said last year started a bit slow but then was pretty good the rest of the season. I had good success several trips last year at the berry later in the season but not any better than other lakes mentioned. I’ve been told different answers on the federal pass, they give discount on STD camping spots and entrance but not on boat launch. I was once told pass covers launch? Most of the time no one at entrance to get any answers?

I have not been on the strawberry side yet this year but it will not be long till I go.
the SC side is not to good the worst I have seen it in 10 years.
Kokanee fishing gets better when there is a water Thermocline
what ever water I have been on , this year, I see fish from 55 feet down to on top and that makes them harder to catch
I have only been to Flaming gorge one time this year but it was one fun time it took about 2 hours to find them, then it was wham bam thank you mam
the bad thing is every thing cost so much
