New Record on the Boat
#1
I dropped my tube jig down to the bottom of Deercreek while I was waiting to pick up some family and this guy sucked in the whole thing. My poles are set for trout so when he got hooked the line screamed out. I had to tighten down the drag and after a good fight we landed this bad boy. He hardly fit in the net. Best guess what about 15 pounds. I could not lift the net out of the water. I wish DC had trout or walleye that big. Oh well. It was fun anyway.

Actually DC does have trout and walleye that big, a new member post a pic of a 17 lb walleye he caught out of there a few years back and I've heard of browns that big coming out of there but don't remember seeing any pics of them. Congrats on the big fish.

I used to think that a Carp was a trash fish. I lived next to a Vietnamese gentleman in Casper Wyoming way back when. I told him about the Carp we used to catch in the platte river there and throw back or away. He was shocked. He said to bring one back and he would cook supper with one.

So I gave him one, and that evening we dined at his house, and I have to say, if I could cook Carp like he did, I would be asking all of you for donations. It was absolutely fantastic.

I read a story that the Asian immigrants are the ones that introduced Carp to Utah waters. They love to cook and eat them. I guess my palate is not sophisticated enough to know a good thing when I see it. [Wink]

This isn't the biggest eye I've seen come out of DC but it's a good one:

Just last year there were two browns caught and released that were over ten pounds and browns pushing twenty pounds have been caught in the past.

You just never know what is down there.

Hahaha! I was actually thinking of a picture I took years ago of a guy holding a hog walley at the Maverick station in Heber City. That was him!! I was headed to the Berry and he had just gotten off DC and asked if I could snap the pic. It was more impressive in person I remember well.

You can still tell it was a big fish, was he by himself when he caught it?

Knew a Ut. State water guy (don't recall what his job was with state)30+ years ago.
He told a good story of it being good ole Brigham that got them in here to provide food source but I don't have any proof of this.
