Henry's Lake ice? - sdhuntandfish - 11-03-2015
Hey fellas, I've itching to get on some ice in November, maybe before Thanksgiving. What are the chances that we'll see some ice on Henry's by then? I fished there 2 years ago on Thanksgiving day with about 4" of ice.

If the weather stays like it is , I think there will be safe ice a week before Thanksgiving . Last year we had safe ice real early.

I used to go camping there with the Boy Scouts back when I lived in the area. We used to go 2 to 3 weeks after the Spud harvest was over. Ice would usually be 4 to 5 inches by then. I know that times have changed but it is always worth investigating.
It was always fun to make a hole in a crystal clear area of the ice near the campground and pull some nice trout out of there.[cool]

Goose bay is frozen out to the main lake . Not safe yet , but it won't be long . The main lake is still open water . Alot of people fishing off the bank at State Park .

I drove into the state Park this morning (Thursday) and the lake is still ice free. There is about 50 feet of thin ice in front of the ramp but that's it.
The road going in is very icy in spots and bare in other places. The main parking lot is snow covered but no problem.
Cold weather predicted all week.

45 degrees was the high yesterday , supposed to be in the 40 today . It will be a while .I will let you know when there is safe Ice .

I drove past the hatchery at 3PM today and the temperature was
44 degrees but the good news is, the lake is 60% ice covered.
It was 14 degrees this morning so with the cold nights the ice is getting started.

Thanks for the report . I drove around Island Park res . Today , west end is frozen also . Trying to find a bull elk , no luck .
