Wild animals come into town all the time but its pretty unusual for a marmot to come into a city. So is there a park near you? Some times they will find a park in the city and set up residents. Is it still in your back yard or did it move on?

We haven't seen it again. I'm assuming it moved on.

There are a couple parks in the neighborhood, but it's mostly just prarie dogs that live in them.

We're in the middle of the valley surrounded by alfalfa fields. It's really strange for the whistler to have shown up here. I'm assuming that it hitched a ride with someone off the mountain and is now thinking it has died and gone to Hell!

We do see deer here in the valley, along with a fair number of the usual critters (fox, coyote, raccoon, turkey, peacock, annoying neighbors....). I've had to trap voles in my yard.

I think I'll set up a trail cam in the yard just to see what's running around at night...
