Logan River Mountain Whitefish - WhiteChocolate - 07-01-2015 Where might one go on the Logan River to catch Mountain Whitefish? I'm not too familiar with the river having only fished 3rd Dam. Any other tips? Suggestions? Trying to catch a new species. Thanks. Haven't been up this year, but years past that area would hold some big ones... Good luck oh and I think it's artificial only area up there so get your fly ready... I used to catch them below first dam in Logan before they closed that area off just below the spillway and I think you could use rock rollers in an area like that and the whitefish will love them... Good luck... J [signature] Re: [WhiteChocolate] Logan River Mountain Whitefish - BUTLEY - 07-01-2015 I have helped Utah State University shock up the Logan River on a few different occasions. There are lots of whitefish along the middle and lower portions. Find the deep holes and you will find the whitefish. We shocked and released some as big as 22". Good luck and have fun. I lived in Logan and worked at Utah State for years and used to fly fish in the river 2-3 times a week all summer during lunch and found it depends on the flies I used more than where I fished. Pheasant tails and prince nymphs brought in the trout and hare's ears caught the whitefish. Will give the whitefish another try Thanksgiving or next summer. Thanks for the info. [signature] |
