Thank you [signature] Re: [dtayboyz] Mackay Report - chrome_junky - 12-22-2014 I'm a little disappointed in the reports of no ice over the last few days. That's what kept me from heading up there Today. Glad it's iced up and fishing well. I'll be headed up Tuesday morning. [signature] Re: [OvidCreek] Mackay Report - windriver - 12-22-2014 Thank you! Mackay did get a few inches of snow last night. I should have taken pictures but it wasn't even froze all the way over barly half way [signature] Re: [jeremypeace] Mackay Report - IdahoPHANTOM - 12-23-2014 The top end is always the last to freeze. You can have 12" at the dam and open water at the head of the reservior. Because it continuously filling. Will be there tomorrow! Let me know how you do, OC [signature] Re: [OvidCreek] Mackay Report - chrome_junky - 12-23-2014 Made it up today. The kokes were on fire. Fished in 33 feet water with most of the fish coming through in the bottom ten feet but at times the entire bottom 30 feet was covered in fish. The fish ate bigger this year although we did still catch a few of the 5 to 6 inch dinks. Most of the fish were in the ten inch range with a few right around 12 inches. Between two of us we must of landed 100 kokanee. We also landed 3 decent sized rainbows. Small pink ice jigs tipped with 3 maggots was the meal ticket. Constant slow long jigging with a pause at the bottom resulted in a hit every time. [signature] Re: [chrome_junky] Mackay Report - OvidCreek - 12-24-2014 Great job man! I will try that jigging method next time. I agree that the most aggressive fish are on the bottom. I even ignored red columns on my vex for the aggressive ones on the bottom. OC [signature] Re: [OvidCreek] Mackay Report - IdahoPHANTOM - 12-24-2014 Made it up to Mackay this morning. The five of us limited out in less than an hour. Kokes are on fire! No secrets about it just get your gear down to the bottom and they will come. Caught them on anything and everything. [signature] Re: [IdahoPHANTOM] Mackay Report - Rexburg_rabble - 01-08-2015 Fished Mackay last Saturday and got skunked. We only got a few bumps the entire morning. Aside from the fishing, I found a black Coast knife in a black Buck knife holder on the ice near the ramp by the campground. Looks like it probably fell out of someones sled. PM me if you think it may be yours. [signature] |
