Chesterfield Report - buckhunterhart - 07-14-2014
I think this last weekend will be the final time this summer I attempt Chesterfield on the boat. Water levels have dropped about 10-15 feet since my last visit, and the water clarity and weed beds around the boat ramp were terrible.
That said, our party did manage to catch one really nice fish (and only one) that measured 24 1/2" and 4 lbs. Was caught casting and retrieving a clackin rap.
I was amazed how much the conditions can change in 2 short weeks. I can appreciate the need for farmers to utilize the water, as that was probably the primary purpose for constructing the reservoir, but I am
I cannot enjoy it for a longer period of time. Next year I guess. Can anyone comment on whether conditions tend to improve in the late fall?[signature]

How did that trout taste? I kept one this time of year a couple years ago and it was not good eating, or maybe how I prepared it.

I did not get a chance to taste it, but my wife did comment that it tasted muddy. The ones we caught a month ago were fine smoked, so maybe there is something to that.
