New to the forum but did some reading of past post. You all seem to be polite and well educated about fishing in our great state.
I have a couple of questions about Deadwood reservoir.1st is the river or lake better for fly fishing streamers,nymphs or drys. I have a pontoon for the lake but wondering where the bigger ones are and the river looks to be too wild for a solo trip on my pontoon.
2nd we are planning a camping trip at the lake but I'm unsure if the campsites can hold two tents since the reservation website is unclear.

im no fly fisherman by any means but i know you can catch them anywhere on the reservoir on spinners and spoons. i heard they were doing good at the river section. ive only stayed at cozy cove camp and it was easy to put a tent alongside. they are other spots along the lake outside the campgrounds that are good also if not occupied

It's been a few years since I was up there, and I only fished it an evening and a morning. In the evening, for whatever reason no fish were rising so I tried dragging some buggers on a sinking line behind my tube, but nada. Next morning fish were cruising and feeding near the bank so I just flipped dries from the shore and did pretty well.
There are some MONSTER fish in there though, and a good flyfisheman would probably be able to figure them out. Best of luck, and pm me with a report if you get a chance. I may need to make a trip up there myself.
