annual Yellowstone lake trip - ironrod - 06-25-2014 Had another great couple days on the big water(two weeks ago). Still lots of snow and water temp was 42deg. Caught our usual, couple dozen lake trout to take home and eat/give away and about twice that number of large Yellowstone cutthroat were caught and released [ ![]() [signature] Re: [ironrod] annual Yellowstone lake trip - cpierce - 06-25-2014 Crab legs! yummm Looks like you had an amazing time. Like you said small amounts of snow with really cold water. I think anyone that is able should plan at least one early June trip on Yellowstone Lake, NEVER crowded! Keep up the great posts. [signature] Re: [ironrod] annual Yellowstone lake trip - PalisadesPorter - 07-03-2014 Hike into Shoshone with the float tubes last weekend. Weather was horrible but the fishing more than made up for that. It was a blast and well worth the short hike. Mostly caught lakers but got into big beautiful browns too. We have been going up there for 40+ years. Did you get the feeling this time that the cuts are possibly turning the corner? We caught many large cuts, but we caught some of various sizes which hadn't been happening in past years (only large cuts in the past). For us, the old Yellowstone special (Jakes) in the 3/4 oz size in silver worked for both cuts and Lakers. What worked for you? [signature] Re: [Fishnskiidaho] annual Yellowstone lake trip - ironrod - 07-12-2014 We used the same jakes lures, large gold mostly. We also had great success with gold/maroon Cleos. And yes, the last two yrs we've caught some smaller cuts-great to see! [signature] |
