little boat - redneckjmr - 06-06-2014 So i have a 14 foot aluminum boat with a 9.5 hp motor on it. Just wondering what all i need to carry in the boat while on the water to be legal. Or where to find that info. Thanks! [signature] Re: [redneckjmr] little boat - curt69 - 06-06-2014 You need a life jacket the correct size for each person in the boat . A horn or whistle and a paddle . I don't know if it is required , but a fire extinguisher , bailing bucket and anchor . I installed a little bilge pump that runs off of my battery, it has saved me a number of times after having big waves come over the back. I had it beached at Henry's one year and came out in the morning and my boat was over half full of water from the waves crashing in, turned on that bilge and in five minutes it was empty...Beats a bucket by a mile. I also bought a set of break down oars, one oar is great but two is what it takes if you have to row any distance. I also carry a whistle in my tackle box as well as a good halogen flashlight in case you break down and end up in the dark, makes for a good signal.
