Ririe Kokanee Report - windriver - 06-05-2014

It doesn't take too much sophisticated equipment to catch kokanee at Ririe right now. Just a small pop gear or spinners followed by a wedding ring in pink or green. We are using two ounces of lead to get it down to them and then slow trolling anywhere from the ramp to that floating outhouse. Tipping the wedding rings with shoe peg corn as always.

Had the best lunch of Kokanee ever yesterday. Caught them in the morning then grilled for lunch. Lemon-Pepper...flesh side down three minutes, skin side down three minutes and done. Yum, yum...

Sounds like fun...Those Koks are great to eat. Had some good meals of Salmon this week myself. Brought three 16 pounders from Orofino....tasty!

Thanks for the report!

We have been getting ours setting the down rigger rods at about 25 ft. as well as running the flatliners out 45 to 50ft. back on the line counters with 2 oz. of lead... Slingblade/hoochies tipped with crawler/corn has been the ticket.

Have not even had to go anywhere else than straight out from the ramp. Also, still seem to get a perch or two while fishing for the kokes.
