South Fork Snake - nm2id - 04-09-2014

Went to the South Fork for a couple of hours this evening, tough fishing. There is a lot of moss and weeds in the water, had to clean off after every cast. Hopefully it clears a bit soon. D

How far up or down are you fishing?

They keep bumping up the flows. It is up to 4,400 right now out of PaliSades. The fishing is always tough when they do this. That's why I only fish the south fork in March or November.

Check the Bur. of Rec website and anytime the water is below 5k fps any bump will usually take an avg of 2 days for the fishing to get back to normal. Above 5k fps any change under 1k fps usually doesn't effect it too much. Above 1k fps and it usually takes 2 days to clear out and the fish to recover. Isn't a 100% rule but through fishing it 30+ days a year for the last 13 years it is the pattern that we have found to be pretty accurate.
