walleye at Ririe - dead_duck - 03-27-2014 A week ago the Post Register had an article about fishing the walleye spawn at Ririe. Has anyone gone out and had any luck? If so, please share the details! With the water temps and runoff cold water it will be probably another 3 weeks or so if the weather stays around normal temps for the highs and lows. I would guess early to mid May would be right for them to move. However, if we get highs in the 70's everyday for the next month that could change. Also if the story they published about a 26 inch walleye being gill netted is true walleye are there forever. The only way to remove them is to poison the lake which I doubt they would. I think the walleye will do good on the perch and sucker minnows up there. It would be nice to see a walleye fishery close to home. Salmon Falls Res is to long a trip for a day run. Fish and game have some with transmitters in them , and they are moving into willow creek to spawn . I still have yet to either see or personally talk to anyone that has caught a walleye there. I have heard enough second hand reports to believe they're there and that some are big , but other than a pic posted by F&g last year no pics that look like ririe with one. However, if anyone with a boat wants to chase them and wants company feel free to pm me and I'll be happy to split gas costs. A friend and I fished Ririe on Friday. We hiked up the Blackcreek arm, throwing lures as we went along, while trying to get an idea of what it would take to hike over to the Willow Creek arm. The clarity of the water improved as we approach the creek, we caught of few trout (~10"), caught no walleye and concluded that there has to be a better way to get to the Willow Creek arm. A boat would work though a less hassle way would be preferable. Google map shows a road labelled N115E that forks off to the SE from the road to the lake, meanders around a bit, then heads S where it parallels and is not too far from the Willow Creek arm. It then heads W, is labeled 49thRdS and connects back with the Bone Road. Is anyone familiar with this road and is it open to the public?
