Everyone had a little action. No Kokes. As usual soft at the edges with the water level rising. 6-8 inches of good clear ice where we were. Nice quiet morning until some dogs treed a mountain lion right above the parking area then it was two hours of baying dogs until the hunters caught up. Do you know how the access at Blowout looks like? I tried to get on there last year and didn't have a plank with me and never could find a spot after walking around in the deep snow for an hour due to the soft edge and rising water. [signature] Re: [ChrisTheFish] Palisades reservoir - wyosledder - 12-23-2013 we fished the reservoir side, the hike down is pretty tough,be careful. A guy had ridden a snowmachine in from little elk. I didn't see anyone fishing the creek side of the highway. I did notice water along the edge at blowout but it is like that everywhere on the lake.Nobody was fishing blowout. There was still a good chunk of open water towards the dam. [signature] Re: [wyosledder] Palisades reservoir - curt69 - 12-23-2013 How was fishing ? [signature] Re: [PalisadesPorter] Palisades reservoir - boredfishing - 12-23-2013 Do they get big in that area? Like 10 - 20 or bigger? I've seen some pretty big mackinaw. [signature] Re: [boredfishing] Palisades reservoir - wyosledder - 12-24-2013 the biggest I know of was 24lbs caught on the stream side at Big Elk. My biggest out of pali ![]() [signature] Re: [wyosledder] Palisades reservoir - OvidCreek - 12-24-2013 Fished Pali ![]() Agreed good for cutts and browns. The hike out is brutal like you mentioned. I know there are many easier places to catch a fish, but for the die hards Pali ![]() ![]() OvidCreek [signature] Re: [OvidCreek] Palisades reservoir - pisces_mortem - 12-25-2013 Tuesday morning was slow for me at Big Elk. Soft edges, but good ice under six inches of snow. I was standing in an inch of water by the time i left at 11. Marked a lot of fish, but only a few willing to bite. Only two other anglers on the ice. Very pleasant morning. [signature] Re: [pisces_mortem] Palisades reservoir - PalisadesPorter - 01-01-2014 Fished by the cliffs just out of the little elk creek cove from about three to five and iced eight fish. Tried a number of different approaches. Jigging seemed to get the browns but only cuts were caught on dead sticks. I even caught a brown at about 50'. I was hoping to get into some Macks but no luck. I lost several fish at that depth so possibly had some on. I had the most success on a white paddle bug tipped with some worm and a little shrimp scent. The seemed pretty good but was a little slushy close to shore. Had to walk a little to find a good spot to walk out. Looks like there is only a small spot of open water out by the dam. Do you guys have better luck getting Macks on the spoons or with jigs? [signature] |
