Clearwater Salmon Guys - trout-boy - 09-09-2013 Last year I moved back to the area, got really into fishing in the south fork of the Clearwater in the late winter early spring for steelies. Now that the Chinooks are coming in the south fork is on my mind again. But I'm wondering if they stock a fall run into the south fork. As far as I have noticed surfing the web, no. Is that right? Also anybody catching anything higher than the first couple miles down by Lewistion yet? If you want to target (and harvest) fall Chinook, you will have to fish the whopping 3/4 of a mile they gave you below Memorial Bridge, or the Snake is open from Hell's Canyon Dam to the Washington border at Lewiston. However if you target steelhead, you will likely pick up a random Chinook or two (you would have to release them if outside of the area described above, but still fun nonetheless). Looks to me like there are a few Chinook going to each of the major Clearwater tribs. If so what would be the best tactic? [signature] Re: [fishforanything] Clearwater Salmon Guys - Got_Bait - 09-19-2013 That's a good question. I actually haven't ever fished the pond. I have heard of some boat tactics for it, but not much on hitting it from the bank. Pretty sure steelheadkid has some experience on the pond, and I chromejunky lives in Lewiston, so I think he has too, as well as a few others. But unfortunately, I can't offer you up advice of any worth on that one. Not exactly exciting but its your best bet to hit a steelie or salmon in the pond. [signature] Re: [STEELHEADKID] Clearwater Salmon Guys - fishforanything - 09-19-2013 Thanks for the advice. If the cold weather gets fish going over lower granite by Saturday, I will be on the levee for sure. thanks again [signature] Re: [fishforanything] Clearwater Salmon Guys - Got_Bait - 09-19-2013 I'd count on it then. LG numbers look pretty nice by my standards. [signature] |
