New guy. - FemoralArchery - 04-12-2013

I'm not what you'd call a newb in the fishing world, more like Master Amature.

I've never fished seriously, as I was always too busy hunting. Now, with 3 little boys to take care of, I want something that is a little more kid friendly. My grandpa is the only friend or family that I've ever had that fished seriously, and I'm Sad to say he can't do it anymore. I like to bowfish for carp and I like to eat trout and crappies mostly.

I recognize a few names from other forums I frequent. I am a bowhunter and a waterfowl hunter and sometimes a rifle hunter. I sell archery gear, and waterfowl decoys as a small business owner. (Dakota and Hard Core decoys and just about every type of archery accessory).

I found this forum while trying to find a decent fishing report for my area. I still haven't found one, other than what you kind folks share here. So, if there's anyone looking for someone to split gas money with, I can do that.

This looks like a great forum.

Thanks for the welcome guys. This seems like a great place.

Duck-Slayer, I actually grew up in Homedale. We'll get an outing or two setup one of these days. I'll bring my old carp sticking bow, just in case.

Adam, Down in Boise but go up Caldwell way to Lake Lowell. Have a heck of a time there catching decent bass (don't know why, everyone else does) but just bought a bow fishing rig last fall. Have boat, will travel. Lowell has some great carp shooting! Drop me a PM sometime when you would like to go.

Re: [fisherfoster] New guy. - FemoralArchery - 04-16-2013

Elkmagnet, I don't know any Corey.

Any kind of fishing is fine with me. I've caught a few cats on the river in the last couple weeks, nothing special.

I don't mind what I catch, as long as I'm catching something. Anything I can take my kids to would also be great. Once the weather warms up a little and we can do some bank fishing for crappie or bluegill or anything that's easy to catch. Just something for them to catch.

Ok never mind. He is the inventor of those decoys and original owner of HC decoys. He lives in Idaho. I've hunted with him a number of times and thought you may have also.
Get us a few pics of your kids with your fish next time[Smile]

Re: [elkmagnet] New guy. - FemoralArchery - 04-17-2013

I didn't know that. Its pretty cool he came from Idaho though.

I don't really have much experience waterfowling, spent lots of time shooting mallards in a cornfield, but never hunted over the water or geese over decoys. I've got access to lots of great property to hunt, so I decided adding waterfowl decoys would give me something to sell during archery's off season and make a little money, and get my own setup for cheaper than buying retail [Wink]

I will get some pictures next time I go out. Headed for a turkey/shed hunt this weekend, so fishing will have to wait. Hopefully the water will warm up and the crappies will start biting.
