Lake Mead - Fishstalkeral - 04-06-2013 This was my first time fishing lake Mead. Me and a friend went fishing at the Gov Wash area from the shore and it was a fun one day trip. got there at sunrise we started out with a Repala shad rap second cast hook a 2-3 lb Striper. From there it was like some one was printing them up cast after cast the fishing was great, the only problem we had was they were all the same, one might fight a little harder but when you look at them you couldn't tell them apart. It was like this till we left around noon. we were working the sides of some deeper points, i think this weekend I might try some top water lures. Oh yea if you go bring bug spray, swarms of little bugs. I didn't have a camera with us but I have now add a digital camera to my tackle. We plan on going again this week hopefully we run in to some larger ones, I want to try something different maybe we can lure in some larger fish. Most of the stripers you run into will be the 1-2lb "schoolies" or "dinks" as we call them. There are plenty of them in the lake so feel free to take them home for the table or friends if you like. Keeping the smaller fish and releasing the larger fish (4lbs+) is beneficial to the fishery. Good luck out there. Let us know how you do.
