new fishing equipment - willstaiger - 03-13-2013
i am heading to the louisiana sportsman show this weekend and i am looking for a new spinning rod/reel combo. im looking for one i can use from snapper fishing to casting a popper to smaller tuna....what would you recommend? im a rookie to offshore fishing, i fish mostly inshore. also, what kind of line would you run on that reel?

It all really depends on your personal preferences. I personally like Abu Garcia products

I would say of course it all depends on your preference but I would suggest something around the 4 to 5 class reel size range. I would probably put 40-50lb braid since you will be casting to small tuna and who knows what could be mixed in! Shimano Stradic 5000 possibly? or Penn Slammer/V series 5000 range. Maybe a 7'6 to 8 ft rod...Good luck!
