Government Wash - Gvec - 02-12-2013 Hey guys, Planning on heading back out to Govt Wash this weekend. I have attached a pic of Govt Wash from Google Earth and noted a few areas. I have only been there once and I believe I was in the area marked 1. But I noticed it was a natural boat launch type of area that had a very gradual slope that continued out probably several hundred yards. This was probably part of the reason why I got skunked. So I am trying to figure out the best area to shore fish in Govt Wash. Anyone have any suggestions? I identified a few places on this Google Map that look good. However I am torn - too far back in the wash and its probably not good striper territory. Too far out into the body of the lake, and we are looking at massive wind. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Some nice coves/fishing areas here and there from point 4 on to the east for a bit. Shoreline around 4 can be good; try to the south of 4 into the shallow cut. Point off 1 can be good You might try the shallow bay brush between 1 and 4 with a surface plug About 30° west of the line between 4 and 5 is a set of deep humps which can stack stripers. Should be about 15 to 35 ft deep now I've caught stripers off 2 but only when they are running shad on the surface. Never had any bites off spot 6 but I see cat fisherman shore fishing there. If memory serves there is a long ridge-like point there farther out than you might expect. Sonar can find it. [signature] |
