I went to Salmon Thursday and there were plenty of open stretches and not many moving icebergs. Saw a bunch of guys fishing at a few holes. There are also solid ice sections.
When do the whitefish bite good and what do you catch them on?

Ice is broke up past Carmen, but has not broke up yet at Morgan Bar. Fishing up river from town has been producing some fish. I landed a 30" hen 35 miles up river from Salmon Saturday. Above town the edges are breaking up very nice and it is quite fishable.

Went out past rams head almost a week ago. The ice is breaking up down there. Dead water is still really frozen. I am just so excited i cant stand it. ITs that time of year.
How is the water clarity for those of you that have been since i went. From what i have seen it has been warmish lately.
