ice fishing report from SE michigan - davetclown - 01-08-2013 the word is NO SAFE ICE. we have anywhere from a crust over to 4 inches at best. that said, I ventured out on a few shallow lakes where if I went though I could stand up to keep my head out of water. I did manage a few gills, and three pike, one 23 inch one on fryday 29 inch on sunday and one 38 inch that went 15 lbs for saturday.
