It's a walking catfish!!!

In the United States it is an invasive species!
The walking catfish was imported to Florida, reportedly from Thailand, in the early 1960s for the aquarium trade. The first introductions apparently occurred in the mid-1960s when adultfish imported as brood stock escaped, either from a fish farm in northeastern Broward County or from a truck transporting brood fish between Dade and Broward counties.

In Thailand this fish is known as Pla Duk Dan . It is a common inexpensive food item, prepared in a variety of ways, being often offered by street vendors, especially barbecued or fried.
In Coastal Karnataka (India), it is called Mugudu and is considered a delicacy.

I'll go along with the walking catfish idea. I don't think it's a bullhead.

Re: [Paulpro] Need help identifying catfish - Rickyrf - 04-03-2013

Walking catfish makes sense. I never heard the true name but in the mid-west we always called those mud dogs because they would crawl out of the water onto the mud. [bobhappy]

This may be the only species of catfish dat eats fruit?
saw them eating green fig berries,I think dats the type of berry anyway..Its the berry season here and some were dropping in a pond, saw a bunch and they were just munching them all down.Carp eat the figs and so do these Mayan cichlids..
