My Other Hand Hurts! - Pharticus - 09-08-2012

Just kidding.

Did catch 66 more fish today, though. Same lake. Very few nice fish this time, however. Perhaps I've worn out my welcome...

I beat you. I caught 69. Same deal though, only about a dozen over a foot. Eww, and half a dozen of the snakiest, most anemic little Finless Freddies I've ever dealt with.[inline "bass 6 small.jpg"]

I would be careful. If both hands get to hurtin to much there aren't many more appendeges to hold a pole with and if you hurt that then you will be in trouble.

so, you used a different reel this time, or is it one of those you can change sides with the handle, or you turned the set up upside down?

Hey - I think I've seen that photo before - I recognize the glove! It's like deja vu all over again!
Was gonner give Pharti a hard time for not posting any pics, but I know what a world of hurt THAT got him into last time, so . . .
Hmmmm slim slimers in a shallow warm pond - - - yuuuuum.

You've gotta protect yourself. After seeing the ravages of cancer first hand, it is something I want to avoid. Plus the gloves decrease problems with cracking skin, bass thumb, etc.

It is kind of like Deja Vu, I think I have a suitable replacement for Condie.
You've gotta protect yourself.
I live with a layer of Coppertone Sport SPF 50 nearly every day. Hope it's sufficient in the long run. I tried wearing long-sleeves for work all one summer, but decided that an immediate death from heat-stroke is a bit more threatening. [crazy]

I bought a couple of those moisture wicking, breathable, fishing shirts that block UV rays and have mesh vents in the pits and on the back. I actually feel cooler than with short sleeves because I don't have the sun baking my skin, especially if there's a breeze. They kind of work like a swamp cooler that way.

My choice as well. Exofficio. I wear a dark purple in 100 degree. People look at me strange but it is actually cooler than skin in sun. I have several of them, plus pants.

Alas, the nature of my work is such that I easily destroy a dozen or more shirts each season. I can't (won't??) afford anything more than cheap t-shirts and sunblock.

Definitely the way to go when you're gonna be out during the summer! I have a couple of them and they are better than anything else I have tried. I really want to try one of columbias new airgill fishing shirts.

Yeah, probably not suited for your work, but I would get some for fishing. I've been really happy with them. I need to remember to bring some sunblock though as sometimes when it's really calm and sunny, the head wrap gets to me and I end up pulling it down and then my nose and cheeks get burnt.

Those look a bit pricey for me, though maybe I'll keep an eye out for a deal. I've been using some World Wide Sportsmen shirts I got for cheap off of ebay. They've been pretty good to me. Though, now I just looked at ebay and there are some deals on the Exofficio shirts too. I'll have to keep that in mind for next season.

Those Columbia shirts look nice too, I'll keep an eye out for both of them.

You got to remember, I worked for Orvis for several years and they at one time owned Exo. I stocked up...LOL
But I do find sales like on Sierra Trading Post. Plus two Guide shirts that were given to me.
But, I gotta check e-bay now for the world wide. Thanks.
I also wear BUFFS with UV

Re: [flygoddess] My Other Hand Hurts! - gstott - 09-08-2012

That explains how you could afford a bunch.

I wear a Buff, but sometimes when it's really sunny and still, my glasses fog up and I get too hot and end up pulling it down. If I have a beard or scruff, it gets itchy too. I still really like it though, and my neck is still protected.

Yuup - gotta protect the neck. Wouldn't want to suffer it getting RED right?
I picked up one of them hats with the neck-guard. Handy, but it's often my cheeks that seem to get burned and dry. Sunscreen is a good friend. Needs frequent re-visitations!

Gonna have to look up some these fishing shirt. Though I don't have sponsors, so sales are good!

Re: [CoyoteSpinner] My Other Hand Hurts! - gstott - 09-08-2012

For sure, that's even more important than preventing cancer [:p] I will never go back to fishing in a t-shirt in the summer. Keep an eye out on ebay and other places on the net. I think my shirts cost maybe $15-20.
I wear a Buff...
I'm not sure how fishing in the buff would help, but I suppose I could give it a try...

Should I wear a cup or something, so as to avoid wacky rigging my worm?
