Camping & Fishing Birthday - roadturn - 08-14-2012 My boy turns 11 this week and says his primary desire is to go camping and fishing. Given the smoke situation and heat, I'm wondering where to go, within say a 3 hour driving radius of Idaho Falls. I'd as soon stay away from the crowd at Island Park, and I'm hoping to find shade, water and decent fishing for the boy. Any suggestions? Fork where you can cast in a worm. [signature] Re: [roadturn] Camping & Fishing Birthday - cpierce - 08-15-2012 You might try Birch Cr. It may be smokey, but not too close to the fires. Otherwise I would try the smaller streams in Island Park or the tributaries of the South Fork of the Snake. Re: [roadturn] Camping & Fishing Birthday - fireman12 - 08-15-2012 havent passes by for a while or heard many reports but warm river might be an option, if you go make sure to give a report [signature] Re: [fireman12] Camping & Fishing Birthday - jabink89 - 08-16-2012 Warm river is a safe bet, and always has fish willing to bite. Just take lots of bug spray the skeeters can get thick. I wouldnt give specifics, but look at all the creeks that are you can access through wyoming back into Idaho. They can all be awesome at certain times. If you fly fish that is where I would head. The first day was real smoky, but it cleared up. Zeb caught plenty of trout (and a good sunburn). Plenty of fun and beautiful scenery. [signature] Re: [roadturn] Camping & Fishing Birthday - hooknhunter - 08-17-2012 Fun, beautiful scenery, and quality time with the boy. That's what it's all about. Glad you had a good trip. I would have been happy to help, but like others, I don't know much about that area. [signature] |
