Reformed lurker - Fishaholicsteve - 07-20-2012
Hello Everyone.
This is my first post. I am proud to say that I am a fishaholic and I hope I never find a cure. I do go through dry spells, but then tend to go on a heavy binge for a few days when i can no longer deal with the stress of every day life.
I have been reading BFT for a while now just to get a "quick fix" when I am too busy to fish. I have decided to join and contribute my complete B.S. I look forward to posting any help I can offer and possibly making some new friends.
Yesterday I fished Twin Lakes. Even though I am pleased every time a catch a fish, 4" perch and bluegill, and 6" bass are not worth my filet knife. Does anyone catch any decent sized fish here?

there are some really good size perch and crappie in there, blue gill if you find them. Not sure on the bass as I have not targeted them there for awhile, but there use to be some real whoppers in there. If you are catching small, go deeper, it works for me

Welcome to the site. I went up there for the first time in early June when the water was up high, all of the trees and brush along the edge were a few feet deep in it. I caught 5 or six bass in the 11-14 inch range and a bunch of smaller ones as well wading out among the trees in just a few hours. You could see them in there and basically site fish them. I had so much fun, that we planned a 5 day family campout there the first week of July. Well the water levels had gone way down by the time of our campout, and I had a heck of a time finding any big ones. I caught one 14 incher and one 12 incher. Everything else was tiny 4-6 inch perch and bass and little blue gill. I'm not sure where most of them are once the water level goes down. If you figure it out let me know

Thanks for the warm welcome. I forgot to mention some areas that I am experienced in fishing...
South Fork of the snake I have fished alot!!! I grew up East of Rigby and spent at least 2 days a week on the water for about 5 years. Most of it was tossing flies, but I also have used my fair share of spinning gear here. Other places are Ririe Reservior, Pali
es, Birch Creek, Meadow Lake, Paul's Reservior, and most other lakes and ponds in Eastern Idaho. Up until recently I have mainly targeted trout, but I am learning about bass and panfish. I especially love perch. I tend to release 90% of fish I catch but I do enjoy eating fish so some come home with me. It's hard to find anything better than some nice perch filets fried in butter. I've only gone once, just after the waterevel dropped. It was slim pickin's that day, but I can attest there are some healthy bass in there.

Welcome to BFT. I too am pretty new at targeting the warm water species. I have been to Twin 3 times this year and only had great luck the first time, in late May. Caught a very nice bluegill and several LM over 15 inches. The other 2 times I didn't catch anything worth keeping. I live in eastern Idaho too and love fishing many creeks in this area. I also like to fish for perch in Blacktail. This is a great place to swap ideas with other people who share the same interests.
