starting a fly collection - Jake0521 - 07-15-2012 So as I've stated, I am a newb to fly fishing, and I need to start building my fly collection what are the basic flies that I should start with? [signature] Re: [Jake0521] starting a fly collection - EvilTyeDyeTwin - 07-15-2012 Zebra Midges, Prince Nymphs, Mosquitos, Royal Wulfs, Ray Charles, Adams, and Elk Hair Caddis are all good places to start. Lots of people like the Rainbow Warrior pattern. I like the Nymphocator Tung (for Trout) and the Psychodellic Prince Nymph (for Bluegill and Bass) alot. The Black Bunny, Purple Bunny are great leech patterns. I am sure that some more people on here could offer more and better insight to good pattern selections....although TDT is right...it would help if you let all of us know where you were planning on fishing. Hope you got a lot of money....flies are an addiction!
