lizard baits - timberhall - 05-24-2012 My wife gave me a bunch of plastics a few years ago for Christmas. Some of them were lizards. I was thinking of trying them this year at Mantua. I was going to walk it weightless over the weeds. Has any one tried this with lizards there? Does it work? [signature] Re: [timberhall] lizard baits - LurkinLizard - 05-24-2012 Did somebody call me? I am uncontrollably moving...toward...the...bait.... Aarrrggghhhh!! It's irresistible...! You can throw a lizard on top, just remember to wait till you feel the weight of the fish before you set the hook. Don't rig the hook from bottom to top on the lizard either. Rig it from the side. You will need to use a bigger hook, I would recommend a Gamagatsu 5/0 Superline hook. The reason is that the lizard is thicker side to side than top to bottom. Lite line and a limber rod are not useful for this type of fishing. You need some beef in the rod and line. Have fun !!! Blow ups in the salad are a hoot !!! Re: [timberhall] lizard baits - Springbuck - 05-24-2012 And slow sinks with plastic next to trees and stumps between the weeds are good too. If you have very little weight, a tiny twitch is all it needs to look lively and the sinking alone does it sometimes. I will hook the lizard through the side. sounds like a smart move. [signature] Re: [timberhall] lizard baits - LurkinLizard - 05-24-2012 Sorry, I was trying to be funny and apparently it didn't work. Since my screen name is lizard, I was joking about being drawn to your lizard bait...but...fail...[blush] Anyway...good luck with your fishing! [signature] Re: [timberhall] lizard baits - fsh4fun05 - 05-24-2012 What you are describing is one of my favorite ways to fish for bass. It takes some patience sometimes but a weightless lizard crawling across the junk and then slowly sinking off the edge....hold on! [signature] Re: [fsh4fun05] lizard baits - Therapist - 05-24-2012 Giant plastic worms also work. By giant I mean 10-12 inch worms. Berkley makes one, and several others also. Again, big hook, heavy line !! Re: [LurkinLizard] lizard baits - fish_fear_me2 - 05-24-2012 I caught it anyway .
