[signature] Re: [jaybee] bluegill spawn - gstott - 05-19-2012 Must have fished a different section of the lake as I was there Tuesday and the gills were all over the shallows. Some nice crappie too. [signature] Re: [gstott] bluegill spawn - just_fishin - 05-19-2012 I was there this past wed the 16th. Only caught one bluegill (pretty good size) but a lot of large mouth. Fish and game stopped by and said it should be picking up within a week or so. Good luck, Derick [signature] Re: [gstott] bluegill spawn - CoyoteSpinner - 05-19-2012 So ya makes me think I gotta get off the marsh and get up to the lakes! If you can stand a tag-along, lemme know when you're going - see if I can take a run too. This weekend might find my way there. Re: [CoyoteSpinner] bluegill spawn - gstott - 05-19-2012 I'm booked up this weekend, but I was planning on heading up Monday or Thursday. [signature] Re: [jaybee] bluegill spawn - gorfish - 05-21-2012 Did anyone fish for bluegills this weekend? [signature] Re: [jaybee] bluegill spawn - FISHINMA - 05-21-2012 I've fished Johnsons, Lamont, Twin, and Winder the past 3 weeks. Blue gill would not stay off the hooks on all the lakes. Yesterday was Twin and Winder...LMB are playing too! Smiey! MA [signature] Re: [FISHINMA] bluegill spawn - gorfish - 05-21-2012 Thanks for the info. I am headed to Twin Lakes tomorrow to see if the LMB's & bluegills will play with me. [signature] Re: [FISHINMA] bluegill spawn - gstott - 05-22-2012 How big were the fish at Winder? I really hope that little reservoir can recover. Gills are definitely active. I took a break from catching bass to get some gills for dinner. They made some mighty fine tacos. I was really impressed with the colors on them too. The biggest LMB 14" and I lost count. I think it will recover if we get the moisture this year. Rumor has it drought is on the way... DRAT![:p] Smiles Always! MA [signature] Re: [FISHINMA] bluegill spawn - gstott - 05-22-2012 Yeah, it's not looking good. Crispy lawns and temps in the upper 80s in May isn't a good sign. Darn it. [signature] Re: [gstott] bluegill spawn - CoyoteSpinner - 05-23-2012 I didn't make it across the border, but I did get out for [url "http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/gforum/gforum.cgi?post=747176;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;page=unread#unread"]chasing some panfish[/url]. Didn't find much for bass, but was fun playing with footballs. Sounds like things are hopping pretty good up there, if you know how to fish like the Ma! [ ![]() Re: [CoyoteSpinner] bluegill spawn - gstott - 05-23-2012 Looks like you got some nice gills. I hadn't eaten them in about 20 years. They're dang tasty, I'll be eating them more often. The bass are definitely getting more oriented to the beds now. I prefer right before they bed as they're fatter and they're roaming the shallows looking for food. I'm curious how this cold snap we're going to get will affect them. [signature] Re: [gstott] bluegill spawn - gorfish - 05-23-2012 To windy for me yesterday, will watch the weather and try again.
