3 wt. fly rod? - FlyJack - 04-12-2012 Here's what I'm lookin' for... a decent 3 wt. fly rod for around 200$ or so preferably a 4 piece, or something that will pack up nice and small so I can bring it along backpacking also I'm hoping that I can get a case with it. I've been to Sportsmans Warehouse to look around a bit and I kinda like the Reddington CT (mostly because of my limited buget[ ![]() [signature] Re: [FlyJack] 3 wt. fly rod? - gstott - 04-12-2012 They don't make them anymore, but I have four Redington RS4s and I really like them. I just used my 7'6" 3wt today on a favorite small stream. They're really good about sending you a replacement quickly if one ever breaks too. Looks like the actually have some left on their website here: http://www.redington.com/rods/rs4 There are also some good deals on ebay right now, but the 3wt rods are only available in 2pc, though there are a bunch of 4 piece 4wts for cheap. It has a tube that I stuck in my back pocket: http://www.cabelas.com/fly-fishing-rods-cabelas-stowaway-6-fly-rods.shtml [signature] Re: [FlyJack] 3 wt. fly rod? - cpierce - 04-12-2012 I have a little Three Forks 7.5 ft 3 wt from Cabelas that has been an amazingly great rod for the price. It is a 3 piece so it breaks down to about 30 inches. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Three-Forks-Fly-Rods/734547.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dthree%2Bforks%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=three+forks&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products I first got it as a bushwhacking and backpacking rod, but I use it for a lot more as I really like how it casts. I also don't worry too much about breaking it.....[:p] I also have a Stowaway 6 in a 5wt. It is a very nice rod and is super compact. http://www.cabelas.com/fly-fishing-rods-cabelas-stowaway-6-fly-rods.shtml [signature] Re: [FlyJack] 3 wt. fly rod? - FlyJack - 04-12-2012 Thanks fer all the suggestions! You might consider an Orvis Clearwater 3 wt at $198 and comes with a good 25 year warranty. A lot of these Clearwater rods were on sale for $119 as they came out initiallyl but think that might be about over. Might check them out as well. [signature] Re: [FlyJack] 3 wt. fly rod? - yungun - 04-13-2012 I have a 7'6" 3wt 4 piece from Temple Fork that i absolutely love! It has great action and i've landed some big fish on it with no problem. I even huck big articulated streamers with it. Its right around 150 if i remember right and the best part about it is the lifetime warranty, if it ever breaks you just send it in with 25$ and they replace it.
