hello all. I have been following this website for a month or so but this is my first post. I was thinking about heading to chesterfield tomorrow and was just wondering if anyone had any info on the ice conditions and fishing. thanks

Welcome to BFT!
I haven't been to Chesterfield, but judging from the weather outside my window I would guess that it is probably 30 to 33 degrees and blowing and snowing today. The road in may be a mess. I couldn't begin to guess if it has snow or slush on the ice, but I would be very careful of the edges. If the res has been rising the safe edges maybe a ways out.
I would also guess the ice hasn't melted too much as Chesterfield is about 5400 ft which is about 200 hundred feet above my elevation. Our snow line is just about at that level. Also the valley Chesterfield is in is always a bit colder than most other areas in the region.
How the fishing is ....... I don't even have a guess on that one. All of the reports over the last few weeks have said it was slow.

This storm will pass through and tomorrow the weather might not be too bad.
I haven't been out to any reservoirs since things have started melting. The Bug went to one a day or two ago his report on conditions it here

I would imagine most of the reservoirs will be about the same.....bad edges and slush and water on top.

American Falls may be the worst with all of the water that must be coming in there. I would stay off of it.

] The ice was plenty thick when I was there two weeks ago (12"-15 inches). This weather could make the edges sketchy and obiously put water on top of the ice, but the thickness of the ice should hold up. Have not heard about how thick American falls was before this weather, I have been putting feelers out to see what it might be like for the derby next week.
