reel advice - carney2134 - 12-28-2011 i need some help. i am heading down to sarasota florida in january for a trip and and all my fishing gear is mainly for smaller fish in NY, i am looking to get something bigger for salmon starting next year and want to get it before i head down. any advice? i have used spinning reels 99% of the time and saw some conventional reels that hold some serious line. i will be shore fishing the whole time and am in no means a serious fisher, so I'm looking to spend under 150 for a rod and reel that would be good for my trip and also good size salmon from the lake. thanks chris [signature] Re: [carney2134] reel advice - gdn443 - 12-29-2011 Cabela's has a combo that should fit the bill and price range. Med/heavy rod for the shore and should be good for salmon. I'm not a salmon fisherman, but it looks good. Salt Striker/whuppinstick Reel ss-65 Rod wssm H 90-2 Line braid will get you better distance for the weight. Above all, have fun. I do saltwater salmon fishing mostly using the Tekota reels and Convergence rods. Not sure if they are available in your area. Sam Vandervalk Salmon Fishing Guide www.salmoneye.net [signature] |
