FirstLight, Chickamauga - Midlake Areas, No Largemouth Bass 12/2/2011, Hogslayer - FishNews - 12-04-2011 Adam called me and asked me if I could take a 1/2 day off work today to do a little bass fishing. The way my schedule lined up, things worked out. We met at the Chester Frost Park BR at 12:30.

Normally I would have been down on the Upper Nicki chasing Brownfish; but we both agreed that the conditions might line up nicely for us to catch some Largemouth on the Chick... The LM didn't happen...

Adam however caught a really nice Smallmouth. The fish was 19.5" and went 3.2lbs on the scale. Put up a heck of a fight on light tackle. No net in the boat so I bellied it in for a quick pic and Adam put her back in the water. Shortly after that I caught a puppy Rockfish/striper. The fish came from the same area that Adam's Smallmouth did, so when the fish stripped line from my baitcaster, the 1st thought I had was; this is a monster SM.... Not this time. Fun fish to catch though.

After reading Kid's report, I guess I should have given the fish to DK or kept it for myself to eat lol. I have never tried them B4... Next time he will go on ice.

Other than those 2 fish the rest of the action came from 5 Drum and 1 Bluegill. We did have a number of solid hits but could not connect for whatever reason. emoBang

Threw soft plastics, jigs w/crawfish trailers, SB's, bladebaits, and swimbaits. The current was moving bigtime. The flow below Watts Bar was avg 74,000+ and the flow below Chick was avg 108,000+. Water temp was in mid 50's.

We targeted current breaks, eddies, and some slack water areas in water that was 15' deep+ and quit at dark.

All in all a fun trip. Thanks again Adam...

|
