Can anyone help me catch a golden trout? I know they are rare but It would make my year to catch one. Please help me.

Look at the F&G stocking reports, pick a lake and start hiking. To find those fish you will normally be up around 8000' +.
P.S. Snow is coming soon at that elevation so you better be getting a move on.

I would try at Baker Lake that we were discussing in the other thread. There is no guarantee, but they have been stocked and they have been found in the gill netting surveys. There were more cutts than goldens in there in the survey though..
You can look at other places the goldens have been stocked too. Just go to the F&G stocking web page.
As has been said snow will hit up there any day now.

They are not all that rare anymore it seems, but they are Hybrids. Now a NATIVE could be a quest. I read a CA site and it seems they have several high mountain lakes that house the Hybrids and they are HUGE!!!!

Check into lakes in the wind rivers. There are quite a few that have big goldens in them. Its a little late to be thinking about heading up that high. But may be a trip for next august.

You can get them in the Bighorn Crags. Big Clear lake has them, so does Ship Island lake.
