What fishing techniques should i use for catching walleye and pike? - fish4walleye - 05-10-2011

I've been fishing for a few years now but i've never really used a techniques before! I used to just cast and reel in lol. What kinds of techniques should i use for walleye and pike? And how do you do them? I am going fishing on the weekend in just a few days so any help would be well appreciated.

Personaly I like the charlie swim baits for the pike, of a minnow under a bobber, "live or dead"

for eyes I like a single hook harness tipped off with either minnow leach or crawler.

You can troll or cast lures to get the Pike and Walleye. Here is how I see it. IF the fish are shallow, then cast to them. IF it is middle of the summer heat, then you will need to troll deep for them. I recommend starting with a suspending jerkbait about 5-7". Both Walleye and Pike will eat these. IF you want the big pike, then use a swimbait like a BBZ1 or a Dynamic Lure swimbait. Also, the soft swimbaits work good for casting at both walleye and pike.

One thing to mention: when working your jerkbait or swimbait, I have found that pike and walleye like the bait twitched or swam slower with slower jerks. The bass however like an aggressive jerk.
