salmon rigs - Divin-Demon - 04-30-2011 Ok this is all new to me as I'm from the east coast. Thinking of trying out the little salmon ( riggins) for salmon. Any ideas on rigs appreciated. Asked a couple friends they said 6' leader 3/0 hook to barrel swivel. attach crosslock to barrel - add weight. I use 2/0 octopus hooks but your 3/0 should be just fine, its all personal preferance. Corkies/yarn, eggs, yarn, and tuna balls all work well. Arm yourself with a heavy action rod and a quality reel for the little; if you don't turn your fish right when you hook it you can pretty much consider it gone....... Bring plenty of lead too, depending on the flows you might need a fairly significant piece to get your gear down into the zone. Expect to loose 15-50 rigs a day depending on where your fishing and how long you fish. Chinook are not leader shy. I never run more than 25" of 25-30 leader with 45-65 braided main line. 2/0-3/0 barbless hooks are the norm. [signature] Re: [phutch30] salmon rigs - Divin-Demon - 05-04-2011 Hey thanks guys.
